Who we are

We are the Isle of Man branch of Prison Fellowship England and Wales.
PF-England and Wales was registered as a charity in 1980 and now has over 1,400 volunteers and is represented in almost all of the prisons in the country. The Isle of Man branch was established in 1997 and our local representatives work with the chaplaincy at Jurby Prison, Isle of Man, as well as working with offenders, ex-offenders and their families in the Isle of Man community.

Our aims and objectives

Volunteers are at the heart of the charity and of our mission of "seeing lives transformed" which is achieved by bringing hope, healing and transformation. Together with other ministries and other local charities, we seek to restore all of those affected by crime. We do this through prayer, practical action and values-based programmes. PF-Isle of Man helps Isle of Man volunteers to respond to the needs of prisoners, young offenders, their families and our community which receives them back through an on-Island Prayer Group, training and programmes in Jurby prison.

The work we do

  • Prayer Group  Since the launch of Prison Fellowship in the UK, prayer has been the basis for all that we do. This is prayer across all denominations and sectors of society, each of us with different skills and roles and functions but all with a common purpose.
  • Angel Tree  Helping families to stay in touch by assisting Mums and Dads in Jurby prison to give gifts to their children each Christmas because these children are also victims of crime. Angel Tree helps Mums and Dads to reconnect with their children even while in prison; it is a way to let the children know that they are loved and cared about and not forgotton.
  • Sycamore Tree  Raising victim awareness among offenders and ex-offenders and teaching the principles and application of restorative justice. Offenders on the     programme explore the effects of crime on victims, themselves and the community, and discuss what it would mean to take responsibility for their personal actions.
  • Letter Writing  Providing prisoners with a vital link to the outside world through the support of volunteer letter writers.
