It’s time to get funky!

With our record breaking “Cha-Cha Slide” Dance-A-Thon

On Saturday 17th July, at Vagabonds Rugby Club, The Children’s Centre is attempting to bring together the Island’s population to attempt to break the record for the most people performing the “Cha- Cha Slide” at our Dance-A-Thon event.

The event is being organised by the charity to kick start the Island’s first ever Children’s Week.  Dancing to DJ Casper’s Cha-Cha Slide the charity is asking the Island’s community to come along on the day and join in the fun and help them hit their target of raising £7000.

As well as the Dance-A-Thon there will plenty of entertainment for all the family, with inflatables, a DJ and dance demonstrations from Represent Dance Company, Strictly Laxey Ballroom and The Killey Academy of Dance.  Food and drinks will also be available at the Vagabonds Club House.

People can pre-register before the event or just show up on the day.  It’s £5 per child and £10 per adult to register and there is a family discount for 2 adults and 2 children for just £25. Participants are also being encouraged to raise sponsorship to help the charity hit their target of raising £7,000. Sponsorship forms will be available on the day and are also available from www.thechildrenscentre.org.im.

Following on from the Dance-A-Thon the fun will continue with a round Island water fight relay which will start in Douglas before moving to the south of the Island, the west finishing in Ramsey early evening.

  • Registration for the dance will start from 10.00am till 12:30pm
  • The Dance-A-Thon will be performed at 1.00pm
  • Round island water-fight relay will start at 1:30pm
  • In between these times there will be various entertainment, practices  and performances from local dance schools.

Marcie Dean from The Children’s Centre said “We really need to get as many people as possible to support us with this event, so please continue to spread the word and encourage all of your friends and family to come along.  This event has a little something for everyone, for big kids and little kids alike! It’s going to be a great day filled with entertainment and lots of fun for all the family.  We just really hope the Manx community support our “Record Breaking attempt Dance-A-Thon” like they have for so many of our other community events’.
