Sea to Summit the Island's own 24 Peaks Challenge

Are you up for tackling arguably the Island’s toughest endurance event? One that’s certain to test your stamina, fitness and willpower to the limit?

Then The Children’s Centre’s Sea to Summit, taking place on Saturday 10^th July, is the event for you. This extreme test of your endurance will involve tackling 24 of the Island’s peaks over 1000ft in just 24 hours - that’s equivalent to going up and down Ben Nevis three times in the same day. By the end of the 24 hours each of the participants will have walked 46 miles and climbed a staggering 12,000ft!

This is the second year the Charity has done this event and as a testament to the challenge, out of the 18 people who started only 6 managed to complete all 24 peaks in the allotted time with the last person finishing at 07:00am, a full 23hrs after they started.

Mark Eastham, The Children’s Centre’s Adventure Events Coordinator says, ‘Last year’s event was fantastic! We knew it was going to be tough but it actually turned in to a real endurance event, to improve the event this year route has been changed with it now finishing in the south and can be entered as an individual or team. We have also teamed up with Manx Timing Solutions to put checkpoints on top of each peak meaning we can offer all participants an accurate print out of their times’.

Money raised from Sea to Summit will go towards supporting The Children’s Centre in continuing to put children, young people and families first.

To take part in this fantastic challenge taking place right on your doorstep, participants will have to raise £100 and pay a £30 deposit, which confirms their place.
