Who we are
Crossroads Care (Isle of Man) was established on Island in 1988 to help improve the lives of carers on the Isle of Man. Crossroads promotes, offers support and delivers high quality services for carers and people with care needs.

Our aims

  • To improve the lives of carers
  • To offer practical support and advice to carers and their families
  • To deliver high-quality services to carers and people with care needs
  • To provide a reliable service tailored to meet individual needs
  • To provide a range of services to meet local needs
  • To strengthen support from Government and other organisations for carers

The work we do
Crossroads Care (Isle of Man) is here for the carer. Anyone can become a carer at any time and looking after someone with a disability or serious illness can often be very stressful:

‘My world fell apart when my husband was diagnosed with...’
‘After the accident my life changed and everything now revolves around my daughter’s needs...’
‘There is no one else to help me look after my elderly parents…’
‘I struggle to keep up with my homework and look after the house for mum…’
‘We love our son very much but now he is an adult how do we find time for ourselves…’

Becoming a carer it is not exclusive to the rich or the poor. It can happen in seconds or over a period of time. The impact it can have on people’s lives can be devastating. Many carers can lose their identity especially when you have to give up your job or activities - the things that you do that make you you!

Every year Crossroads Care (Isle of Man) provides more then 50,000 hours of respite care to our Island’s carers. This is done by providing a diverse range of services to all ages and abilities.

We employ over 90 people locally to carry out the charity’s main objective of taking over the caring responsibility so that our Island’s carers can have a few hours to be themselves.

How you can help us
Shops: Pop into our shops on Prospect Terrace, Douglas and Victoria Street, Douglas. The opening times for both shops is from 10am to 4pm, Monday to Saturday. The shop retails good quality, second-hand goods and always welcome donations of clothes, toys, books and bric-a-brac etc, which can be brought to either shop during opening times.

Volunteer: We are always looking for volunteers to help staff our charity shop.

Standing order: Caring is a continuous commitment. We welcome you to make a continuous commitment by standing order to enable us to continue to care for our Island’s carers. Please contact the office for a form.

Donate: Crossroads Care (Isle of Man) receives a grant from Social Services and works in partnership with many other charities and organisations. However, it costs nearly £800,000 to provide our current services and most of this comes in the form of donations.

Legacies: Legacies are a good way to show how much you care. Please contact the office for a leaflet.

Sponsorship & Fundraising: If you feel you could help by organising or sponsoring a fundraising event we would love to hear from you.
