Who we are
Our vision is to bring practical aid and hope to victims of poverty, destitution and disaster throughout the world. Our work involves releasing resources and delivering aid at the cutting edge of need. We seek to be a voice for the worlds marginalised, rejected or forgotten.
Capstone International Aid (C.I.A.) became established as a Manx registered charity in April 2008. Financial support for the work of C.I.A. to date has been received through generous individual donations from people who share our vision.
Our aims and objectives
- To bring aid to victims of poverty, destitution or disaster throughout the world
- To support internationally focused charitable organisations with similar objectives
- To train and equip people to bring aid and relief to those in need
Asia: India - In conjunction with Child-Link International Aid Foundation and Love and Care Ministries, India we are bringing relief to orphaned, semi-orphaned, destitute children and widows especially those who became victims of the 2004 Tsunami. The imminent closure of a children’s home in Vellankanni, Tamil Nadu, Southern India in October 2007 was averted through an emergency fund application to the Isle of Man Overseas Aid Committee made on behalf of Child-Link resulting in the award of a grant of £7,500 which has since been matched pound for pound by local donations. C.I.A. aims to continue to support this vital work to further develop the infrastructure and expand the capacity and facilities at the home. We require significant financial funding for a number of years to complete this work.
Europe: Romania - The first rural fire service in the County of Bihor Romania was established in April 2008 by Ro-Man-Aid (Manx Charity 541). Two fire engines were donated by the IOM Government and with the building of a fire station nearing completion this project is seen as a model for implementation across the Country. C.I.A. aims to continue to support and develop this initiative with Ro-Man-Aid through the provision of strategic planning, risk management, development of operational procedures and ongoing training, working directly with the Romanian county emergency planning officials.
Global: Through partnership and co-operation C.I.A. aims to support and empower established and emerging charities with similar objectives. We seek to support, train and equip those working at local level so that communities may eventually become self sustaining.
Here’s how you can help
The work of C.I.A. is expanding, extensive and urgent. The needs are great, with our two most pressing projects being the building of dormitories in Vellankanni, and providing food, clothing and shelter to Brazil’s street children.
Presentations: Why not invite us to give a presentation about the work we do? We would love to share our vision.
Volunteer: We are always looking for volunteers to assist with fund raising activities. If you have any specific skills you may wish to consider becoming involved in some of our projects. Please contact us for an informal discussion.
Sponsorship: By regular donations you could sponsor a place at a children's home. Our sponsors are able to correspond and even visit their sponsor child/children.
Business sponsorship is welcomed to partner with us on specific projects.
Donate: We are grateful for all donations large or small. You can send a cheque payable to C.I.A. or set up a Standing Order for regular donations.
Legacy: A legacy is a good way to show how much you care, enabling development and relief work to continue as a lasting memorial in your name.
